Country Introduction
Kazakhstan is located in central Asia, bordering Russia to the north, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to the south, the Caspian Sea to the west and China to the east. It is an important node country of the “the Belt and Road”. As of January 1, 2025, the total population of Kazakhstan reached 20.286 million, with over 30% of the population aged 60 and above. It is expected that this proportion will continue to rise in the coming years. With the changes in population structure, especially the increasing proportion of elderly population, the demand for medical services is also constantly increasing. Kazakhstan has relatively limited domestic production capacity for medical devices, which cannot meet the demand of the domestic market and requires a large amount of imports. The main sources of imports include China, Germany, the United States, Russia and other countries. There are various types of imported medical devices, covering multiple fields such as diagnostic equipment, therapeutic equipment, medical consumables, etc. Among them, there is a high demand for imported products such as in vitro diagnostic reagents and medical consumables. China is one of the important sources of medical equipment imports for Kazakhstan. In 2024, the total amount of medical equipment exported from China to Kazakhstan reached 2.155 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 2.67%.
