Our company’s blood glucose meter uses electrochemical detection method, which is divided into two types: glucose oxidation method and glucose dehydrogenation method. Both detection methods have been redone by our company.

Glucose oxidase (GOD) utilizes oxygen and water to oxidize glucose to gluconic acid and release hydrogen peroxide. Peroxidase (POD) decomposes hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen in the presence of chromogenic oxygen receptors, and dehydrogenates the chromogenic oxygen receptor 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol to form red quinone compounds, known as the Trinder reaction. The production of red quinone compounds is directly proportional to the glucose content.

Glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) is a method in which glucose dehydrogenase reacts with glucose when the reaction zone is inserted into the whole blood sample. Glucose dehydrogenase reacts with ferricyanide to form ferrous cyanide. When the iron cyanide salt is oxidized by the electrode, the blood glucose meter can measure the current and convert it into a concentration before displaying it on the screen.
