Infectious Disease

For over a hundred years, our struggle against infectious diseases has always existed. What is an infectious disease? Let the editor introduce you to infectious diseases! Infectious diseases refer to infectious diseases that are caused by pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and can cause epidemics in the human body under certain conditions. The prevalence of infectious diseases requires three basic conditions: source of infection, Pathogen transmission and susceptible population. If one of these conditions is missing, the epidemic process can be interrupted.
The route of pathogen infection is called Pathogen transmission, and the same infectious disease can have multiple Pathogen transmission.
1. Respiratory transmission
Pathogens exist in droplets or aerosols in the air, and susceptible people are infected by inhalation, such as tuberculosis, novel coronavirus infection, etc.
2. Gastrointestinal transmission
Pathogens contaminate food, water sources, tableware, or toys, and are susceptible to oral infection, such as cholera, hand, foot, and mouth disease, hepatitis A.
3. Contact transmission
Susceptible individuals are infected through contact with water or soil contaminated with pathogens, close contact in daily life, unclean contact, and other means, such as tetanus, measles, gonorrhea, etc.
4. Insect borne transmission
Blood sucking Arthropod infected by pathogens transmit pathogens to susceptible people through biting, such as malaria, dengue fever, etc.
5. Blood and body fluid transmission
Pathogens exist in the blood or body fluids of carriers or patients, and are transmitted through the use of blood products, childbirth or sexual intercourse, such as syphilis, AIDS, etc.
6. Iatrogenic transmission
Refers to the spread of certain infectious diseases caused by human factors in medical work.
For infectious disease patients and suspected patients, early detection, early reporting, early isolation, early diagnosis, and early treatment should be achieved. Preventing and controlling infectious diseases is everyone’s responsibility, and we must all be the first responsible person for health.
